Breakthrough!
ReplyDeleteThe holidays mean happily gaining weight by spending extra time with my mom and her cooking.
Please, please let the print go to me. I generally don't have "favorites," be you and Dahlov Ipcar are head and shoulders my favorite visual artists. Few artists can give me both excitement and a total sense of calm like you do, and I can't wait to save up enough for an original! Please keep creating as long as it makes you happy!!!
ReplyDeleteTough decision...but I'll say "Breakthrough", for its beautiful blue sky!
ReplyDeleteThe holidays for me are centered around friends and family, and great food.
I love 'Breakthrough' - it's been one of those years for me...
ReplyDeleteThe Holidays means spending lots of time with my Family, celebrating, taking stock and looking forward with hope and gratitude.
It also means lots of impromptu pimms picnics with friends and morning snorkels in Gordon's Bay and Flat rock.
They're all so wonderful, really, just fantastic!! It's been a lot of fun watching your art evolve/develop. Thank you Sam and the interwebs!
ReplyDeleteAlso, Holidays are a great time to sit around and wonder how the hell we all managed to survive another year, and remember those that didn't.
DeleteI've been eyeing Up from Below, but really, both are incredible.
ReplyDeleteHolidays to me by default have come to be a relaxing retreat away from academia. But the holidays always remain a time to catch up with family, to spend time, and use their love to help me to recharge. I can't wait to see my family!
They are both is STUNNING ! I've always loved your work anyway, Mrs French ; )
ReplyDeleteBreakthrough is stunning (and Up From Bellow too...but don't think my husband would want to share our wall space with another guy!). The holidays mean peace, joy and crazy family time...or crazy time with family, whichever way you want to look at it. K.Luethmers
ReplyDeleteI love them both, but I think Up From Below is a stronger, more interesting composition. I shared on my facebook and hope you get more traffic from that!
ReplyDeleteAs for the holidays, I love recreating the magic and joy of my childhood holidays for my children.
First Off, love them both. But my pick is 'Up From Below'!
ReplyDeleteYou are amazing. We are remodeling our bathroom and I selecting tile and colors based on one of your prints that will be hanging on the wall and inspiring me every day.
Love!
~ Amanda Lillemoe
Both. I love your underwater images as they transport you to a place of letting go. Holidays= Family & Appreciation
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love Breakthrough! And the holidays are all about family and traditions (and food)! :-)
ReplyDeleteHappy Holidays!
"Breakthrough" is my favorite. For me, the holidays mean lots of travel and complex scheduling, but it's in pursuit of some face-to-face time with distant people I love.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite of the two is Breakthrough. The holidays mean family time. And that means eating too much, laughing a lot and huddling in front of the TV to watch A Christmas Story, Elf (my personal favorite), or the original Miracle on 34th Street.
ReplyDeleteBreakthrough. Break bread. Break water. Break with tradition. Break out.
ReplyDeleteEmerge.
Breathe.
Joy.
Up from Below. I don't live far from my family, but don't get back home very often. The holidays force me to take a break from my day-to-day and feel like a delighted kid on Christmas morning again at my parent's house. Also, of course, there's the delicious dark beers that "surface" everywhere around this time of year.
ReplyDeleteHey Sam...you rock so much! So cool to see you achieving goals and changing the world....You should be proud!
ReplyDeleteBreakthrough! The holidays mean family, rest, and joy.
ReplyDeleteBreakthrough!
ReplyDeleteTo me, the holidays mean drinking with the family, dressing up, tobogganing with my siblings and cousins, and getting cozy bu just about any fireplace you can find. "Drinking with the family" was my first thing to list, because now as I approach 30 I realize how much fun it is to get tipsy with my parents, aunts, uncles and cousins!! They are hilarious!!
Breakthrough! It is beautiful! The holidays mean spending time with family - most of all all four of my grandparents that I feel so fortunate to still have around!
ReplyDeleteBreakthrough. A celebration of the classics. Movies, music and togetherness!
ReplyDeleteA dream come true! You know, Samantha I really love your art (and I am not saying just because of this giveaway). I have this vision of a perfect house, and it's all white and sleek and.... your painting on a feature wall in a living room. Hopefully one day <3
ReplyDeleteThank you for this opportunity and wishing you all the best.
I can't decide which painting I love more, because I love each for different reasons.. but let's say 'breakthrough' because it captures the 'bubble moment'. Regarding Christmas, it's about kids for me and I always have a quiet moment when I am thankful for my family and spare a thought about those who are not with us anymore.
Breakthrough is the one for me. Meaningful on so many levels! Your artwork is so unique and stunning.
ReplyDeleteHolidays are low-key and family oriented in our house. Some years we never get out of our jammies! We are all kids at heart :)
Breakthrough. Family.
ReplyDeleteLove your painting.

Breakthrough-it has that classic Samantha French art feel to it. Holidays are a time to put all other activities aside and focus on family and friends. Putting together presents, mailing out hand made cards, or going out together makes for happy moments to get through the season.
ReplyDeleteBreakthrough is my favorite. I have been admiring your work for a while and every time I see this picture it reminds me of my childhood swimming in my grandparents pool. My favorite part of the holidays is spending time with my family and Christmas morning breakfast, Eggnog french toast!
ReplyDeleteBreakthrough is just stunning! Such a beautiful embodiment of a confident and assured acceptance of what lies ahead. Perhaps the holidays are like this as well - a chance to breakthrough to the new year and its new possibilities, but hand in hand with the ones you love. (And maybe some mulled wine in the other hand.)
ReplyDeleteI love them both but i would have to say breakthrough is my favorite. My hubby isnt crazy anout me putting a pucture of another man up. To us the holidays is a time to reflect, eat way to much, visit and cat h up with family and friends. Thanks for the giveaway your work is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteSo hard to choose, but I think 'Up from Below' is goregous...and I have the perfect place for it! Holidays are about family and relaxing for me. Lately we've been travelling, but this year we're staying here in MN. Very happy to have a snowy, white Christmas.
ReplyDeleteUp from below! I would LOVE to have this piece in my home!
ReplyDeleteBreakthrough. I think of loved ones, whether here with me now or in my heart during the holidays.
ReplyDeleteBreakthrough! During the holidays, I think of my family and friends and how I can connect with them in a special way either through a gift, phone call, shared experience or handmade card :) I love your work! Hopefully someday I'll have enough money to buy one!
ReplyDeleteBreakthrough is my fav of the two. Really, who wouldn't be happy with any piece of your art?!? I'd be super happy!!
ReplyDeleteChristmas means family...being warm and snug inside looking out at snowy weather...family recipes...laughing...having a relaxing time together.
Merry Christmas!
Breakthrough! Though I think they are both stellar.
ReplyDeleteHolidays are about spending time with family and friends and hopefully finding the most perfect gifts--something the person will just adore but may not have even known they needed or wanted. It means listening all year long to get some great hints!
Pick Me! Pick Me!! Please!!!! I love all of your work and would appreciate either! PLEEEEEEAAAASE! I'm about to get obnoxious!
ReplyDeleteBreakthrough for me!
ReplyDeleteBoth are awesome works of art and I have been following your work for a while now!
Holidays for me are all about spending time with family near and far, as an Irish ex-pat living in the states it's great to be able to feel so familiar and welcome with my lovely wife nad in-laws but also find time to have that little Irish coffee with my parents back in Ireland via skype and see what Santa brings my niece and nephews!
I'd absolutely love to have any! there's absolutely magnificent!!! ;)
ReplyDeleteBRAVOOOOOO!!!!
Breakthrough is my favorite!
ReplyDeleteI would have to say my favorite part of the holidays is spending time with my family and friends!
Breakthrough!!
ReplyDeleteI am from India and all I can say about the holidays is that we can't get enough of them ! Holidays mean a lot of color , parties , family , friends, food ,food and more food!! Oh , but there is the slight problem of gaining weight during the holidays. But totally WORTH IT !:D
Christmas holidays mean long, hot, lazy, sunny days, Christmas lunch with family members you haven't seen all year, kids playing under the sprinklers, barbeque, pineapple, salad and gingerbeer, snoozing under the fan, swimming in the pool to cool off, backyard cricket with the kids and grandparents and chocolate that is a little bit melty! (I'm from Australia!)
ReplyDeleteWe have "Three Feet Under" & wouldn't "Break Through" look awesome with it as a pair!?! I'm crazy about your amazing works & wish I lived in a mansion to have enough wall space to display every piece that I love!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite time during the holidays is our White Elephant gift -dice game we play w/ my husbands extended family. The wrapped, mystery presents in the pile are hilarious & we all seem to collect them throughout the year with that one night in mind!! Who's going to get the petrified fruit cake this year!?!? It's a wonderful evening that we all get excited about no matter what tragedy & unfortunate events have taken place throughout the year. We laugh, eat, drink & are merry all night w/ no serious gift giving because we all have everything we need!! Happy Holidays to all & may art fill your life.....EARTH without "ART" is just EH!! Cheers!!
Love your work! I admire it every weekend I go for coffee. A wonderful touch of culture for our little town of Nisswa. Thank you for sharing your amazing talent!

They're both gorgeous, but I especially love Breakthrough. Your work is amazing and would look so very lovely in my mid-century Berkeley Hills house. And - I'm looking for my personal breakthrough in 2013. It's been a tough couple of years - cancer, job loss, the works - but it can only get better!
ReplyDeleteThis holiday were celebrating the joys of being together -- don't need much more than that. Hope yours is equally festive, fun and full of warmth-

"Breakthrough". The word itself means alot to me, personally and professionally. Only yesterday I had a "breakthrough" with a client. In my line of work I am continually searching for an opening and in the field of psychiatry this is a challenge. Water symbolizes for me peace and the path of least resistance, floating, silence, peace all come to mind. I would love to hang this is my office: to inspire, to reflect and briefly in my hectic day to float.
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping.

"up from below" is beautiful! and it would be the perfect start for my art collection - I have the world's longest hallway, and it's so empty right now!
ReplyDeleteI love the holidays for their special spirit, for the snow and the cozy lights, for being together with my family and friends, for snuggling up on the sofa to read and play christmas records, for snowball fights and long walks in our freezing winter wonderland.
I would SO MUCH love to get your art <3

Up From Below. The holidays mean too much forced socialing and unallayed happiness. BUT also mean time with the Granddaughters and sitting around holding their hands.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is Breakthrough. Just stunning. The holidays means regressing to my 12-year-old self with my siblings, playing Scrabble in my pajamas, and mom stuffing us silly. I am reminded to thank my lucky stars for my family.
ReplyDeleteOh, goodness. Breakthrough. I guess I really identify with that one since I'm a female, too. I've been a swimmer off and on for years - there's just something about water that is so beautiful and calming to me. I love artwork of water; I guess it reminds me of the beach or the pool and calls forth the peace that water offers. Your work reminds me of so many lovely personal experiences. Usually I don't think I'm much of a fan type of person, but for your work, I truly am.
ReplyDeleteI love the way you do air under water, so "breakthrough" is my favorite. The holidays are all about tradition for me. The holidays can be a difficult time for me. I often feel pulled apart by the demands and expectations of others. So, creating new traditions that I feel good about is really important to me. My family has begun buying less and making more for gift giving. We are hosting a white elephant party this year, which I hope becomes an annual event. Dakota and I pick out a small tree and decorate it every year. I hope that by participating in these new traditions I will be able to transform any negative feelings I experience during the holiday season. Emily Temte
ReplyDeleteprefer breakthrough, why ? because the view is looking up and out, and there's more detail in the disturbance of the water. Nick
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Love these!
ReplyDeleteI love all your work. Breaking through just puts me in the pool. I can feel the water rushing past. I taught myself to lap swim and learning to breath in water is a breakthrough experience.
ReplyDeleteSamantha, both of the prints are awesome, but I like "Breakthrough" more! Everytime I see your art in your parent's coffee shop, I feel like I am there in the pool. I can hear the water and bubbles in the pool, I can imagine myself gliding or floating in the cool refreshing pool after a hot day.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Christmas traditions are coming to Nisswa to see my parents and family for 5-6 days. There is so much to do there and we all have a great time! We especially like to go and get a "scone mountain" and a cup of "black pearl" at Stonehouse Coffee!!! ;)

ReplyDelete"Breakthrough" it is. I love both works, but this makes me think of all our gatherings with the Braun family at Christmas, and all other times throughout the year. I always think of Aunt Agnes, and we talk about her so often. What an indomitable spirit she had! And this painting, for reasons I can't even properly articulate, makes me think of her. Whether I win or not, we already have, especially with such wonderful reminders as this. Thanks so much for your work.
ReplyDeleteBreakthrough! Love your work.. home state represent!

Breakthrough is my favorite! For me, holidays are about getting to spend quality time with loved ones. This year is even more special as we anticipate the arrival of our baby girl!
ReplyDeleteLove Breakthrough! Bring your work to Maine! :)
ReplyDeleteBreakthrough Please. The holidays mean to find those new things you've been missing through out the year, art, fun, relaxation and time to just chill with the ones you love. And reflect on what you can to better next year.
ReplyDeleteBreakthrough is my favorite, although they are both beautifully done! And to me the holidays mean a lot of craziness, trying to finish commissions and such, and finally getting to make a lot of wonderful food and just hang out with my family- with everything all done for the moment. <3
ReplyDeleteoh, contact info! kelliemarianhill@yahoo.com. just in case. hopefully :)
